Shawn Oneill of Oneill Brothers Racing has been working the numbers, with building a engine just for the airboats. Shawn and I have been in communication for a while discussing just what is needed from a engine on the airboats. There are many modified marine engines that push out over 6HP, but these engines get their power at high rpm's (16,500+ rpm's).The engines are built for top end HP and high rpm's. We are turning 14" and larger props, which needs bottom torque to turn.
This new airboat engine is a modified Zenoah G270. Dyno tested 5.5hp @ 10,000rpm's. Lots of bottom end hp for pulling the boat out of the turns. I will post information as the testing is compelete. Its looking like this will be a very good race airboat engine.

Almost finished with the new designed hull for this engine, the Cajun Gator AirSled. Have some breaking in on the engine to do. Started with the MAS 14 x 7 3-blade, change it to the APC 14x6 2-blade. I'm thinking this engine will have too much torque for the MAS. Hoping by next week end I will be running the new boat. I'm needing to know if the engine and if the hull is going to work for what I'm wanting.

The engine still has some break in time left and a little fine tuning of the carb in this video. Top end is a little faster but the main difference is in the power that it has to pull out of turns and take offs. At 1:30 in the vid I planted the boat in setting up a hard take off, the boat came out of the hole very good.
